Snake Tamers

OMG. I am normally the type of guy to get as close as is needed to get the shot and get it right, but there was something about this shot that kept me at a distance. My darling younger sisters are both deathly afraid of spiders, I love them because they kill the evil Mosquitoes that have haunted me for so many years. My dad hates heights, so I climb and tower to prove that I am not afraid of them.

As for me, I saw enough nature shows growing up (thanks Marty Staufer) to know that Snakes and a few other deadly animals, specifically certain species, are not to be taken without extreme caution. Something tells me the streets of India aren't a place I want to test these theories, especially not with presumably maltreated Cobras! I miss the harmless gartners of Michigan, terribly.

That being said, this was so cool to see first hand. I didn't expect it right there on the side of a random street in Jaipur. The shock excited me and the chance to get this interesting and colorful photo intregued me to the point of danger, but not enough to wait around for that vile creature to look my way! Maybe pasty white is the color that makes him go crazy and bite? What if he doesn't like the flash or zoom. Oh man...Not my biggest fear, but one realized nonetheless. A bientot

Hi Eric--I came across your blog on a search for "Dubai," as I'll be moving there in two weeks from...Michigan! Imagine my surprise, when reading one of the few blogs that came up, to find a fellow Michigander. And practically a Yooper, to boot. (I'm from Houghton.)

It's been great to read through your posts--lots of helpful info. I just read one that mentioned the research you did before arriving there. I'm in the middle of the same process--any suggestions for information resources?

    Hey there,

I was searching AIESEC UAE and come across your site as the foremost link. I am a member of the mostly disorganized Seattle LC, and am really interested in the Salaam Program, and opportunities in the Middle East. I was hoping I could chat with you more by e-mail. If you have time, please shoot me an email at rshauers(at)gmail(dot)com.

    Thank you so much!
    Ryan
